Turkey arrests 26 ISIS suspects in capital Ankara

Turkish police arrested 26 people for suspected links to Islamic State (ISIS), the state-run Anadolu news agency said on Monday, citing unidentified security sources.

Police conducted simultaneous operations in the capital Ankara after they discovered that 30 people, including 28 Iraqis and two Syrians, were in contact with ISIS members based in conflict zones, Anadolu reported.

Turkey’s Islamist-leaning government says it is committed to battling ISIS both at home and in regions of Syria and Iraq controlled by the nation’s military.

The authorities have referred the 26 suspects to the Ankara migration office for processing and deportation, Anadolu said. A search for the remaining four suspects was ongoing, it reported.
