YEREVAN, March 19. /ARKA/. The Armenian Revolutionary Federation/Dashnaktsutyun has never been against early parliamentary elections, but believes that they should not be organized by the incumbent Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Dashnaktsutyun representative Ishkhan Saghatelyan said during a press briefing today.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said March 18 that early general elections will be held in the country on June 20.
Pashinyan has been facing opposition demands to resign since he signed a peace deal in November with Azerbaijani and Russian leaders to end the 44-day war in Nagorno-Karabakh that claimed thousands of young lives, and saw Azerbaijan reclaim control over large parts of Nagorno-Karabakh and surrounding areas that had been held by Armenian forces for more than a quarter of a century
“If, after this entire struggle, regardless of our will, the elections are held, only then will Dashnaktsutyun decide to participate or not,” he said.
Saghatelyan noted that regardless of what position members of the opposition Homeland Salvation Movement will assume, Dashnaktsutyun will fight for its announced agenda.
“We will continue our fight in full, even if we are left alone, so that Pashinyan is removed,” he said. -0-
