Baku/22.07.21/Turan: On July 22, the Baku Court for Serious Crimes sentenced Russian citizen Eduard Sergeevich Dubakov to 10 years of imprisonment. He was found guilty of fighting in Karabakh on the Armenian side as a mercenary.
In his last speech, Dubakov pleaded not guilty as saying that he was in Karabakh on the instructions of the Azerbaijani authorities.
At the meeting on June 30, he said that he was involved in collaboration by the special services of Azerbaijan in Belarus in 2018 and visited the occupied territories on their instructions.
According to Dubakov, in January 2021, he was called to Baku to get paid but was detained.
According to the same charge, Dubakov took part in military exercises in Kalbajar as a member of the VOMA combat organization.
On January 14, 2021, he arrived in Baku from Turkey “to stage provocations” but was detained. A criminal case has been opened against Dubakov under Articles 214-3.1 (terrorism, financing of terrorism), 218.2 (participation in a criminal community (organization), 318.2 (illegal crossing of the state border of Azerbaijan).
