As a Lebanese Armenian, I could not resist my tears as I followed from a distance the huge explosion and the blast that happened yesterday afternoon. Many people lost their lives and thousands injured. More people are still missing. Lebanon is home for me. The geographical distance that separates me from Lebanon is only kilometers measured in numbers. My affection to my beautiful country is much more than measurable numbers. It is an affection that is derived from my soul and my heart. And let me highlight as to why I have this affection for Lebanon. Lebanon gave me an identity that I cherish with and I am equally grateful for. Lebanon gave me citizenship, education (academic and spiritual-civic) as well as values that helped me to strive in life’s many challenges until today. I urge you all to pray for Lebanon. All those who lost their lives, may they rest in peace. All who were injured, may they receive healing soon. Lebanon deserves Peace, Stability and Justice.
