Maronite Patriarch Beshara al-Rahi on Sunday called for the formation of “a capable new government.”
He also called for “the election of a president before the end of the (incumbent) president’s term on October 31.”
The new president “should enjoy all the characteristics on which the Lebanese agree,” al-Rahi added.
He also called for “protecting the judiciary from every politicization, subordination or bargaining.”
“Resistance is not limited to arms but rather includes resilience in domestic unity, full loyalty to Lebanon the homeland, enjoying ethics and values, and preserving Lebanon’s message and exemplary nature,” al-Rahi added.
