Aoun and Rai meet, hope to get Lebanon out of ‘black tunnel’

BEIRUT: Lebanese President Michel Aoun met Saturday with Maronite Patriarch Rai in the Bkirki patriarchal building on the occasion of Easter.

Aoun said that he had “come to greet the patriarch during this great holiday, in hopes of getting out of the black tunnel that Lebanon is passing through, hoping that next year will be better.”

Lebanon has been caught in knots as the government formation still remains deadlocked, with no definitive answers on when the situation may pick up for the better.

Aoun said additionally that “the basic authority is in the hands of the Lebanese people,” noting however that “issues are accumulating, because as we solve one another arises.”
