NNA – President of the Republic, Michel Aoun, welcomed the establishment of a joint Lebanese-Armenian fund to support joint initiatives between the two countries and the development of the solar and renewable energy systems.
President Aoun’s fresh words on Monday came during his meeting at the Baabda palace with visiting Armenian Prime Minister, Karen Karapetyan.
Aoun expressed contentment regarding the activation of the bilateral ties between the two countries, as agreed upon during the official recent visit to Yerevan last month.
The President reiterated Lebanon’s willingness to discuss all issues that would meet the interests of both countries and the two friendly peoples, pointing out that the exchange of expertise between the two countries would strengthen cooperation and advance it to the level of aspired objectives.
Aoun also lauded the vigorous role by the Armenian community in Lebanon’s national and political life.
Premier Karapetyan, for his part, recapped the most prominent points he agreed upon with Prime Minister, Saad Hariri, in all fields, notably the banking and tourism sectors.
He also disclosed that the joint Lebanese Armenian high committee shall soon resume its meetings after a several year pause.
The Armenian PM thanked Aoun for his responsiveness to the Armenian desire to strengthen cooperation between the two countries.
Karapetyan is currently visiting Lebanon on top of a high ranking ministerial and economic delegation.
