YEREVAN, October 13. /ARKA/. Arman Dilanyan has been elected as new chairman of the Constitutional Court of Armenia, Edgar Ghazaryan, chief of staff of the Constitutional Court, said in a Facebook post today.
According to the law, he will hold this position for six years without the right to be re-elected.
On June 30, the parliament of Armenia enacted a set of constitutional amendments initiated by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, which called for the gradual resignation of seven of the court’s nine judges.
Three of them – Hrant Nazaryan, Feliks Tokhyan and Alvuina Gyulumyan, who had served more than 12 years- have already resigned and have been replaced by new ones.
According to the amendments, the latter were nominated by the government, President Armen Sarkissian and a national convention of Armenian judges.
The constitutional amendments also required that Hrayr Tovmasyan to quit as court chairman but remain a judge.
