YEREVAN, January 27. /ARKA/. In 2021, Armenia will receive a more than $500,000 grant from the Global Partnership for Education to conduct large-scale research in the field of general education, Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Artur Martirosyan said at a press conference on Wednesday.
“Last year, Armenia joined the Global Partnership for Education, and thanks to this, we will be awarded a grant for the first stage of research to be carried out jointly by international and local experts,” the Deputy Minister said. According to him, the work is already underway.
Martirosyan also touched upon other projects implemented jointly with UNICEF, Save the Children, the European Union and other partners.
In particular, according to him, the ministry initiated coordination meetings for partners in the development of education, during which representatives of vulnerable groups of the population were provided with tablets and communication and were able to use distance learning.
The goal of the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) is to facilitate the implementation of general education development policies by bringing together international partnerships, civil society organizations and private foundations. This structure is actively promoting the process of strengthening education systems in developing countries.
According to the GPE procedure, after the research phase, Armenia will get the opportunity to apply for the second stage of the GPE program (Education Sector Plan Implementation Grants) and expect free financial support of up to $5 million from GPE for 2022.
