YEREVAN, DECEMBER 14, ARMENPRESS. The Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin issued a statement, strongly condemning the blocking of Lachin Corridor by Azerbaijan.
“We strongly condemn the provocation being done by the authorities of Azerbaijan – the blocking of the road connecting Artsakh with Armenia with fake environmental pretexts, as a result of which the vital rights of the people of Artsakh are in danger and the Armenians of Artsakh are facing a humanitarian disaster.
These kind of provocative acts are directed to conducting ethnic cleansing which once again show Azerbaijan’s anti-Armenian policy. This situation makes the reality indisputable that the safe life of Artsakh-Armenians within Azerbaijan is impossible.
The Catholicos of All Armenians has already sent letters to the heads of Sister churches, international and inter-church organizations to counter these inhumane actions of Azerbaijan and overcome the humanitarian disaster facing Artsakh-Armenians.
The Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin expects that the international community will give adequate assessments to the provocations of Azerbaijan which violate the fundamental human rights norms, which greatly endanger the fragile peace and stability of the region.
We also urge the Sheikh ul-Islam and the Grand Mufti of the Caucasus Allahshukur Pashazade to take tangible and substantive steps, in accordance with his humanitarian calling, to rule out the Azerbaijani provocative actions”, the statement says.
