YEREVAN, March 27. /ARKA/. Armenian companies that will not lay off employees and retain salaries during the 30-day state of emergency, declared by the government to stop the spread of coronavirus, will receive financial assistance from the government, Economy Minister Tigran Khachatryan said during a government meeting on Thursday.
This program will also help small businesses with 2 to 50 hired workers,” he said.
The minister said that the assistance program does not include banks, credit organizations, pawnshops, insurance companies, currency exchange offices, organizations engaged in buying and selling foreign currency, investment companies and funds, gambling as well as other companies engaged in similar activities.
Khachatryan said that companies that will have preserved their salary fund from January 1 to April 1 will be able to take advantage of a one-time grant.
He said that the amount of assistance will be determined as follows: the total number of employees is divided into blocks of five employees, the average size of their salaries is calculated, and the government pays the company the amount received during the calculations.
For example, if the total average salary of five employees is 150 thousand drams, and the company has 17 employees, then 150,000 drams is to be multiplied by three, and it turns out that the state will pay 450 thousand drams to the company. At the same time, compensation is not expected for the remaining employees.
If there are less than five employees in the company, then the payout will be in the amount of the average salary based on the number of employees.
The head of the State Revenue Committee David Ananyan said that the start of this program will begin on April 21, since it is necessary for the companies to submit reports.
In turn, the Minister of Finance Atom Janjughazyan n noted that this program will be a kind of incentive for companies to register their employees in order to receive compensation. ($1 – 495.93 drams).
