YEREVAN, April 27. /ARKA/. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said Friday where 50,000 new jobs have come from. “I have recently stated on various occasions that after the revolution some 50,000 jobs were created or taken from shadow and included in payrolls,” he said in a live broadcast on his Facebook page. “In this connection, when I spoke at PACE, some public statements calling this figure into question have emerged. Such statements are being made even after the State Revenue Committee’s comments.”
Nikol Pashinyan said that he ordered a reference with information about new jobs in particular segments and with particular figures, since there had been voiced an opinion that these are only jobs that have appeared in payrolls for long years of standing in shadow. “This is not important at the moment, important is that in January 2019, compared with January 2018, the number of jobs have increased by 50,141,” he said.
The premier said that in the wholesale and retail sales of cars and motor cycles and their repair segment 16,427 jobs were created, in the processing industry the number of jobs has grown by 9,551, in the accommodation and catering organization by 8,334, the services segment by 2,574, in the IT and communication industry by 2,260, in the administration and related activities by 1,834, in the financial and insurance activities by 1,348, the professional, scientific and technical activities by 1,063, in agriculture, forestry and fishery by 1,056, in the healthcare and social service sector by 1,033, in education by 892, the mining industry by 749, in other segments by 718, in state administration and defense by 345 etc.
The list consists of 22 points, and the reference is based on the list of taxpayers. In total, 562 043 jobs were recorded in 2019 against of 511,902 in 2018. “These figures can’t be unreal, since they have been taken from the tax reports submitted by companies,” Pashinyan said.
In his words, these figures can’t be called into question, and the authorities can fix indicators on separate companies – where are how many jobs have been created. “I have decided to present data, since the matter is being discussed intensively now, and I understand why – since this seems to be from fiction genre,” Pashinyan said.
The prime minister thanked people for the velvet revolution and expressed hope that an end will be put to shadow dealings. -0—
