YEREVAN, April 8. /ARKA/. Consumer prices in Armenia in March 2021 were 5.8% higher as opposed to the same month of 2020, according to the National Statistical Committee (NSC).
It said in March 2021, prices, when compared to February, were up 1%. The inflation in January-March 2021, compared to the same period in 2020, was higher by 5.2%.
According to NSC, in March 2021, compared to March 2020, prices for food products and soft drinks increased by 7.4%, and compared to February of this year – by 0.9%.
Alcohol and tobacco products rose in price by 9.2% year-on-year and by 1.9% from February 2021. Prices for clothes and shoes increased by 6.9% year-on-year and by 2% from February 2021. Utilities upped by 1.5% and 0.7% respectively.
Household goods, household appliances rose in price by 8.8% in March 2021 and by 2% from the previous month.
Healthcare services have grown by 6.6% and 0.9% respectively, transport costs by 8.9% and 1.2% respectively. Restaurant and hotel prices have upped by 2.5% and 0.1% respectively and services by – 5.2% and 1% respectively.
Prices for non-food products in March 2021 increased by 8.4% compared to March last year, and by 1.6% compared to February 2021.
The Armenian government’s growth projection for 2021 is 3.2%, while inflation is set at 4% (± 1.5%). The Central Bank’s forecast of GDP growth is 1.4%. -0-
