YEREVAN, June 26, /ARKA/. Armenia’s economic activity index in May 2019 grew by 7.3% from the same month of 2018. according to the latest numbers, released today by the National Statistical Committee (NSC).
According to official data, in January 2019 the economic activity index grew by 5.5% from 2018 January, by 7.6% in February, by 5.8% in March, and by 9.5% in April. The averaged economic activity index increased by 7.3% in the first five months of the year.
According to NSC, in January-May 2019, industrial output amounted to about 733.1 billion drams, having increased by 5.6% from the same time span of 2018. Domestic trade grew to 1.150.1 trillion drams, an increase of 9.4%, services surged by 16.5% to 737.3 billion drams and construction sector upped by 6.1% to 97.3 billion drams.
Agriculture data are published quarterly. Thus, in the first quarter of 2019, agricultural output declined by 0.2% from the first quarter of 2018 to 74.8 billion drams.
In May 2019, the 12-month inflation was 2.8%. Armenia’s foreign trade in the first 5 months of 2019 stood at about $2.851.1 billion, which was 2.6% less than in the same period of 2018. The government projected GDP growth for 2019 is 4.9%. ($1 – dram 477.81). -0-
