YEREVAN, October 11. /ARКА/. Armenia’s industrial output in the first 8 months of 2019 amounted to 1.260.2 trillion drams, an increase of 9.5% when compared to the same time span of last year, the National Statistical Committee reported.
According to the NSC, the growth was largely driven by the mining industry and the development of open pits, which upped by 14.5%, to 225.810 billion drams. In particular, the extraction of metal ores increased by 15.4%.
During the reporting period, the manufacturing industry upped by 10.4% to 850.175 billion drams. At the same time, the supply of electricity, gas, steam and conditioning air in January-August decreased by 0.1% to 167.022 billion drams, while the water supply, waste water treatment and recycling grew by 0.5% to 17.127 billion drams.
