Azerbaijan said that it destroyed two Armenian ballistic missile systems early on Wednesday, state-run Anadolu news agency reported.
The Azeri military detected several missile systems deployed on the border with the Nagorno-Karabakh region which were aimed at civilian population and infrastructure in Ganja, Mingachevir and other cities, Anadolu said, citing a Telegram message by the Azeri defence ministry.
Two of the missile systems were destroyed, it said.
Renewed clashes between Azerbaijan and Armenia erupted on Sept. 27, with intense battles raging in the disputed region of Nagorno-Karabakh. Both sides accused each other of targeting civilian areas. After the Russia-brokered talks, the warring parties agreed on a ceasefire for humanitarian reasons in order to exchange detainees and the bodies of those killed in the fighting. However, both sides traded accusations of violating the ceasefire agreement.
