YEREVAN, OCTOBER 7, ARMENPRESS. On the sidelines of Armenia’s presidency at the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), Yerevan hosted today consultations between deputy foreign ministers of CSTO states in a format of a “high level group”, chaired by Armenian Deputy FM Mnatsakan Safaryan, the Foreign Ministry said.
The meeting was also attended by the delegation of the CSTO Secretariat and Joint Staff led by the CSTO Deputy Secretary General.
At the beginning of the session, Deputy FM Safaryan introduced his colleagues on the current situation resulting from the latest aggression of Azerbaijan against Armenia, and emphasized the necessity of immediate withdrawal of Azerbaijani armed forces from Armenia’s sovereign territory and unconditional observation of the ceasefire regime. He also stressed the necessity for a clear and addressed condemnation of killings, tortures of Armenian prisoners of war and other war crimes committed by Azerbaijan, and for holding the perpetrators accountable, as well as releasing Armenian POWs and civilians who are illegally held in Azerbaijan.
More than a dozens issues on the CSTO agenda were discussed during the consultations, as well as the further activities regarding those issues were outlined.
Issues relating to the upcoming CSTO summit in Armenia this November and the joint session of the CSTO foreign, defense ministers and secretaries of security councils to be held before the summit were also touched upon during the meeting.
