Elle MacPherson reveals her number one tip for staying slim at Christmas – but could you do it?

When her nickname is ‘The Body’, you listen to her advice.

Except when it comes to Christmas. Elle MacPherson (53) has shared her top tips for staying slim over the festive period and it just serves as a friendly reminder of the restraint which supermodels show in their day-to-day lives in order to keep their famous figures.

Elle’s suggestions for Christmas include – quelle horreur! – shunning alcohol. Yes, all alcohol, even on the big day.

“At parties, I’m partial to a virgin cocktail, such as mock Mojito made of fresh lime, slices of ginger, soda, lots of ice and a little mint on top,” she wrote in her body blog column for Get the Gloss.

“Otherwise, she’ll mix up ginger ale or elderflower water in a champagne glass – a simple trick, which will allow you to enjoy a drink – and the feeling of a drink – without consuming actual alcohol.”

She also minimised her coffee intake because she gets “irritable and uncomfortable” from dehydration, instead preferring to start her day with hot water and lemon.

“I used to wake up with a double espresso, but now I sip a hot water first thing, to gently boost my metabolism,” she said, explaining that she follows up with a concoction of her own wellness powder the Super Elixir.

“Since juicing and taking The Super Elixir daily, my skin glows, brown spots have faded, the whites of my eyes are clear, and my tongue is no longer coated,” she added.

“I also sip herbal teas, including my own homemade turmeric tea which is a concoction of turmeric powder and hot water with a large coriander sprig on top, right through to bedtime.”

Can’t we sip prosecco to our heart’s content while also looking like we stepped off the pages of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue?
