Baku / 26.02.20 / Turan: The 8th meeting of the Azerbaijan-Turkey High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council was held in Baku on Tuesday with the participation of the Presidents of Azerbaijan and Turkey, Ilham Aliyev and Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who arrived in Azerbaijan at the head of a solid delegation.
According to Anadolu agency, Erdogan called to increase in trade between the two countries from $ 4.5 to $ 15 billion. “This is my goal,” the Turkish president said.
At the opening of the meeting, Erdogan touched on the Karabakh conflict. Recalling a statement by Ilham Aliyev – Nagorno-Karabakh is Azerbaijan and an exclamation point, Erdogan said, “I want to put our signature on the same statement.”
He further expressed support for the reforms in Azerbaijan, noting the willingness of Turkey to help in their implementation.
“We have implemented gigantic joint projects, such as the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, TANAP, Star Refinery. The goal is to increase mutual trade from about $ 4.5 billion to $ 15 billion,” he said.
In his response, Ilham Aliyev said that relations between Turkey and Azerbaijan are successfully developing in all areas, and new treaties will further strengthen them.
Speaking at a briefing at the end of the meeting, Erdogan called an important step the establishment of railway links between Nakhchivan and Turkey, which will enhance the security of this region of Azerbaijan.
Touching upon the problem of Nagorno-Karabakh, Erdogan stated, “Karabakh is our problem to the same extent as Azerbaijan. We really want to solve the problem of Nagorno-Karabakh based on the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. “
