YEREVAN, June 9. /ARKA/. Prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages in Armenia in May 2021 were up 7.5% from May 2020, and 1% from April 2021, according to the National Statistical Committee (NSC).
Vegetable prices were said to have grown by 6.3%, but compared to April 2021 they were down by 7%. Fruit prices rose by 0.4% and dropped by 4.3% respectively.
The prices of dairy products increased by 11.5% in May 2021 compared to May 2020, and decreased by 1.3% compared to April 2021. Eggs in May 2021 rose in price by 46.1% compared to May 2020, and fell by 4.8% compared to April 2021. Meat products in May increased in price by 5.3% from May 2020 and by 0.9% from April 2021.
Sugar price surged by 43.3% from May 2020 and by 1.9% from April 2021. Cooking oils and fats in May of this year compared to May 2020 rose by 33.4%, and compared to April of this year – by 3.6%.
Fish and seafood prices increased by 14.4% in May 2021 compared to May 2020, and by 4.8% compared to April of this year.
Alcoholic beverages and tobacco products in May 2021 increased by 8.7% compared to May 2020, and 1% compared to April 2021.
In May this year, bakery products, and cereals rose in price by 0.5% from May 2020, soft drinks – by 0.6%, and coffee, tea and cocoa – by 0.7%.
According to statistics, prices for non-food products in May 2021 compared to May last year increased by 9%. -0-
