ERBIL – France has so far failed to make a final decision on whether it would repatriate dozens of children stranded in Syria as the US-backed Kurdish forces have already announced the full victory over the Islamic State (IS) in the country.
About 2,500 children of distinct nationalities, many of whom under the age of seven, are still stuck in Syria and Iraq, Business Insider said, pointing out that dozens of the children are French.
Paris, however, has not shown a clear stance on the issue with no certain timelines for any possible repatriation neither, the report said.
US President Donald Trump and the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), who has recently declared the full victory over the jihadist group of IS in Syria, have both urged the world countries to take back their citizens, but no states are ready to make such a move due to security concerns.
