The Prince of Wales is reportedly livid with Meghan and Prince Harry for bad mouthing the royal family in the now notorious Oprah interview
Prince Charles has snubbed Meghan Markle by glaringly omitting any reference to her in his message celebrating the second birthday of the duchess and Prince Harry’s son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, The Sun reports.
To mark his grandson’s birthday, Prince Charles shared a charming photo of himself, Prince Harry and little Archie on Instagram — with Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex nowhere to be found.
Prince Charles and Prince William are reportedly livid with Meghan Markle after the duchess and Harry excoriated the royal family in their Oprah Winfrey interview in March.
Consequently, royal fans have been quick to connect the dots and presume that the Prince of Wales was only too eager to pretend that his daughter-in-law doesn’t exist in his birthday post.
Prince Charles and Camilla took to Twitter to wish their grandson Archie a very happy birthday, sharing a message with a picture of Harry, Charles and Archie as a baby. But Meghan’s absence in the photo wasn’t missed by fans of the Duchess of Sussex, who commented on the social media platform, suggesting she should have been included in the snap.
A fan of Meghan Markle reacted to the duchess-free Instagram post and said of little Archie, “Rude! He has a mum!”
Another member of the online peanut gallery demanded of Charles, “Is this really the only photo you have of Archie?”
According to Leeds Live, the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall, as Charles and Camilla are known, captioned their Meghan Markle-less Instagram post with the words, “Happy birthday to Archie, who turns two today.”
Queen Elizabeth II also took the time to wish her great-grandson many happy returns of the day.
Prince Charles’ well wishes come after his mother the monarch shared her own birthday message earlier today on Thursday, May 6.
The official royal Twitter account did not snub Meghan Markle as Charles did, posting a photo of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, as she and Harry are known, with Archie a few days after his birth.
“Wishing Archie Mountbatten-Windsor a very happy 2nd birthday today,” stated the Queen’s caption.
Express reports that Charles is so livid with Meghan Markle and Harry that he is gearing up to “freeze” the duke and duchess out of the royal family’s future.
The heir apparent to the British throne has long had designs on restricting the senior royal corps to him and Camilla and Prince William and his family.
US weekly royal commentators Molly Mulshine and Christina Garibaldi reflected on the relationship between Prince Charles and Prince Harry. The pair agreed that Prince Charles is likely still furious at his son for the Oprah interview with his wife Meghan Markle. The pair added, Prince Charles may see his goal of slimming down the monarchy a way to cut further ties with his son.
According to Garibaldi, Harry will likely not care so much if he and Meghan Markle lose their titles of duke and duchess. Rather, it’s his relationship with this father that he’s worried about.
“US Weekly are reporting that there really wasn’t much progress that was made when Prince Harry was back in the UK for Prince Philip’s funeral,” Garibaldi said.
“They really didn’t talk and Prince Charles is still pretty mad that this tell-all interview happened.”
The BBC reports that in a statement on their Archewell foundation website, Meghan Markle and Harry made no mention of the snub from Charles. Instead, the duke and duchess stated they were “deeply touched” by all those who have donated to charities in honor of Archie’s birthday.
“We cannot think of a more resonant way to honour our son’s birthday. If we all show up, with compassion for those we both know and don’t know, we can have a profound impact.”
