If there is anyone who could bring back the noughties-era exposed thong, it’s Jennifer Lopez. Just last night, her stylist Rob Zangardi Instagrammed an image of Lopez on set of a video in Miami with DJ Khaled, wearing a cropped white T-shirt, and a pair of low-slung, baggy gray pants with a hiked-up thong attached. The daring whale tail look was from Natasha Zinko’s Fall 2018 collection. Lopez accessorized it with handfuls of blingy jewelry, circular shades, a large portable cup emblazoned with her moniker “JLo,” and a perfectly polished middle finger. Clearly the singer had no qualms about making a pointed fashion statement.
The exposed thong trend made various cameos on the runway a little over a year ago at the Spring 2018 shows. Since then, Kim Kardashian West has sported a flashy Tom Ford-era Gucci thong in the comfort of her own home, but Lopez might be the first major celeb to take the attention-grabbing trend out and onto the street. Admittedly, she’s never be one to shy away from risk-taking style. Lest we forget, this is the woman whose risqué Versace dress at the 2000 Grammy Awards prompted the creation of Google Images. In other words, a full thong-aissance could be on the horizon, thanks to JLo.
