Prime Minister Kubatbek Boronov resigned on Tuesday and was replaced by Sadyr Japarov whose premiership was rejected by certain parties. The resignation comes as Kyrgyzstan has been swept by protests sparked by the preliminary results of the parliamentary vote, largely seen as unfair by the parties that failed to win seats in the legislative body.
Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov has signed a decree to dismiss Prime Minister Kubatbek Boronov, the president’s press service announced Friday.
The decree also disbands the current government, which will, nevertheless, continue to perform its functions until a new cabinet is formed. According to the press service, the presidential order enters force upon signature.
