French President Emmanuel Macron announced Saturday that there will be a French-Saudi initiative to resolve the diplomatic crisis between Riyadh and Beirut, following talks with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Jeddah.
Macron revealed that the prince and him held a joint phone call with Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Miqati, noting that there is French-Saudi commitment to help the Lebanese people.
Bin Salman “was clear in his commitment and we together relayed the message to Miqati during the phone call,” the French leader added.
“We cannot tackle the Iranian nuclear file without addressing the issue of regional stability,” Macron went on to say.
