The US illegal sanctions against the Iranian nation and pressures and plots against the Venezuelan government and nation are crime against humanity, Rouhani said in the meeting in Tehran on Tuesday.
“No doubt independent nations will stand against these pressures and plots and certainly victory will belong to the resistant nations in the end and they will make the US regretful,” he added.
Rouhani said that the current government in the US is acting against the independent nations and governments as well as the American nation and has today turned into the executor of the Zionist regime’s policies in the world.
He underscored the necessity for the further development of ties and cooperation with Caracas, saying, “The Islamic Republic of Iran will remain beside the Venezuelan government and nation with all its power in different international arenas and on the path of resistance against the US pressures.”
Heading a high-ranking delegation, Arreaza arrived in Tehran on Sunday night for a three-day visit.
Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and Arreaza Montserrat in a meeting in Tehran on Monday discussed bilateral relations and regional developments.
During the meeting in the Iranian capital, the Iranian and Venezuelan foreign ministers explored avenues for bolstering and reinvigorating mutual cooperation in different fields.
Zarif and Arreaza Montserrat underlined the need for expanding bilateral relations in economic, trade and banking areas.
The Venezuelan foreign minister, meantime, blasted the US for assassinating commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Quds Force, and extended his condolences to Zarif on martyrdom of Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani.
“We believe that in honor of Martyr Qassem Soleimani, Iran and Venezuela have to expand their mutual relations more than before,” the Venezuelan foreign minister said.
Zarif, for his part, expressed gratitude for Venezuela’s condolences and named Martyr Soleimani as ‘an important Resistance figure in his life and an inspiring one to resistance after his martyrdom’.
During the meeting, the two diplomats also conferred on a host of bilateral topics as well as the recent regional and international issues.
