YEREVAN, December 10 /ARKA/. Armenia’s acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said during a conversation with journalists at the headquarters of his My Step alliance that the revolution would not end until all the goals were achieved.
“The first stage is over. One of its main goals is to turn Armenia into an economically developed and really strong country, not only in terms of economics, but also in terms of international politics,” he said.
Pashinyan said with every passing day Armenia is becoming stronger in terms of economy, international politics, democracy and the rule of law.
“This process continues. Our government, our team has the capability to make Armenia stronger. I think that we will have the mandate to rule the country. When we are not able to strengthen Armenia, then our people will transfer this mandate to another political team,” said Pashinyan.
Early results from 25 % of poll stations indicate that Pashinyan’s My Step alliance leads with more than 70 percent of vote. The alliance’s closest rival is the Prosperous Armenia Party of wealthy businessman Gagik Tsarukyan, which has received 8.97 percent of the vote so far. It is followed by the Bright Armenia with 5.98 percent.
There is no turnout threshold, however, to enter the parliament, a party must secure more than 5 percent of the vote and alliances must get over 7 percent. At the same time, according to the law, at least three political forces must be represented in parliament. -0-
