Turkish state-run pipeline company BOTAŞ increased natural gas prices for industry by 48 percent.
The company also raised the price of gas used in energy production by 46 percent, Dünya newspaper reported on Monday. The cost of natural gas for households remained unchanged.
Turkey is hiking energy prices due to a global increase in the cost of oil and natural gas and after the lira dropped to successive record lows against the dollar and euro. The beleaguered currency has lost more than 20 percent of its value this year.
BOTAŞ sets natural gas prices monthly.
The increase in the cost of natural gas is likely to pressure producer price inflation in Turkey, which stood at an annual 44 percent in September, close to a three-year high. Consumer price inflation accelerated to 19.6 percent in the same month.
