Turkey has pinned its hopes on Ukrainian tourists after the country lifted the negative PCR test requirement for 16 countries, including Ukraine, amid COVID-19 pandemic.
“Around 160,000 Ukrainian passengers would come to international Dalaman Airport during the holiday season according to bookings,” Cengiz Tuğrul Ayaz, the director-general of the airport who serves the southwestern of the country said, Hürriyet newspaper reported on Sunday.
According to a notice by Turkish health ministry issued on May 2, visitors from 16 countries and regions will not be required to present a negative PCR test for travelling to Turkey as of May 15, Hürriyet said.
The list includes Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Vietnam, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand, South Korea, Israel, Japan, the United Kingdom, Latvia, Luxembourg, Ukraine and Estonia, it said.
The first group of Ukrainian tourists arrived in the country, Hürriyet said.
