Türkiye will not allow the existence and activities of any terrorist group in its region, the country’s National Security Council said on Dec. 1.
In a statement released after over three-hour meeting of the National Security Council under the chairmanship of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the council said: “The existence and activity of any terrorist group will not be allowed in our region, and every necessary step will be taken decisively for this.”
The Turkish Air Forces launched a massive aerial operation against the presence of PKK/YPG in northern Iraq and Syria in reaction to a deadly bomb attack by terrorists in Istanbul in mid-November. The terrorists also hit residential areas in the bordering town of Kilis and Gaziantep with missiles, killing civilians.
