YEREVAN, December 16. /ARKA/. The U.S. Government remains committed to supporting Armenia’s economic growth and security, Ambassador Lynne M. Tracy said today during a meeting with the newly appointed Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan.
According to the ministry, the sides discussed the ongoing collaboration and continued partnership. The ambassador said the U.S. government supports key programs in Armenia, including tourism, agriculture and regulatory reforms for an improved business enabling environment, as well as the water and energy sectors.
Minister Vahan Kerobyan expressed confidence that in the near future the Armenian-American economic relations will intensify.
During the meeting, the parties touched upon the activities of the Trade and Investment Council, and also attached importance to cooperation and dialogue in such areas as trade and investment, World Trade Organization, elimination of technical barriers to trade, sanitary and phytosanitary issues, GSP , trade diplomacy, high technology, etc., as well as the organization of business meetings with the participation of representatives of the public and private sectors.
Issues related to the availability of payment platforms (PayPal services), venture funds, and the development of the capital market in Armenia were also discussed.
The parties also touched upon USAID-funded programs, in particular, in tourism, rural economic development, market liberalization, science, innovative agriculture and business promotion.
Ambassador Lin Tracy thanked the minister for the reception and stressed that she was ready to cooperate in all areas and provide the necessary assistance.
