https://www.turan.az-Washington D.C./26.05.23/Turan: The United States on Thursday expressed its determination to help Azerbaijan and Armenia to achieve a final peace agreement, TURAN’s Washington correspondent reports.
“… We believe that an agreement is in reach, and we continue to press the two parties to work together to reach an agreement on the issues that remain outstanding,” State Department’s spokesperson Matthew Miller told TURAN’s correspondent during a daily press briefing.
Asked whether Washington was keeping “its eyes on the ball” due to ongoing Moscow talks, the spokesperson said “we’re not in the room… but this continues to be a priority for us.”
He went on to remind that Secretary Antony Blinken welcomed the two sides here in Washington several weeks ago. “We understand that talks continued after that in Brussels, and we support the talks continuing.”
When asked by TURAN’s correspondent whether Blinken was planning to meet with the sides again in the coming days, Miller said, “…he will continue to stay engaged. But I don’t have any further meetings or announcements to make.”
Miller later tweeted his appreciation to Armenian Prime Minister Pashinyan’s recent comments on mutual Armenia-Azerbaijan recognition of territorial integrity and continued commitment to peace.
“A final agreement is in reach and we are determined to help our friends achieve it,” he noted.
