Basnews -ERBIL — Despite thousands being already rescued from the Islamic State (IS), a total number of 2,941 Kurdish Yezidis are still missing, latest statistics shows.
In August 2014, IS jihadists carried out a barbaric attack on Sinjar where they killed thousands of people form the religious minority group of Yezidis. The attack also displaced hundreds of thousand of Yezidis.
According to the updated data by KRG’s special office for Yezidi Abductee Affairs, the total number of Yezidis abducted by IS is 6,417 people (2,869 male, 3,548 female).
Since then, 3,476 men, women, and children have been rescued or they managed to escape the group themselves, according to a statement.
