YEREVAN, March 29. /ARKA/. An overall evaluation of the situation in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone will be given during a meeting of the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan with the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group in Vienna, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said at a press briefing in response to a question whether the death of an Azerbaijani soldier on the contact line, reported by Azerbaijani media, means that the situation in the Karabakh conflict zone will remain tense.
The journalist also inquired what Russia could wish, as a co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group, to the parties to the conflict when the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan meet on March 29 in Vienna.
“Today, all the issues will be discussed, including, I think, this issue during the meeting of the co-chairs with the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan. The question is not so much about Russia’s wish but about an analysis of the whole situation, which will be given during this meeting,” said Zakharova.
Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan had already met with the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs Igor Popov (Russia), Stefan Visconti (France) and Andrew Chauffeur (USA), as well as personal representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office Andrzej Kasprzyk in Vienna.
The Armenian government press office said yesterday that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan will hold a meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on March 29 in Vienna.
