Japanese rocket carrying UAE Mars probe blasts off

Rocket sirens sounded over northern Israel and the Golan Heights after a host of projectiles was launched from Lebanon.

The Iron Dome has repelled over a dozen rockets fired from Lebanese territory into Israel. The attack was claimed by Lebanon’s Shiite movement Hezbollah, which said it had fired a barrage of rockets into Israel in retaliation for airstrikes a day earlier.

A video of the intercept was tweeted out by the Israel Defence Forces (IDF).

The IDF earlier warned on Twitter that sirens had sounded in northern Israel and the Golan Heights. Hezbollah claimed it had fired dozens of rockets at open ground near Israeli positions in the disputed Shebaa Farms area. In response, the IDF launched artillery strikes “at sources of launches in Lebanon”.

In response to the 10+ rockets just fired at Israel from Lebanon, we are currently striking the rocket launch sites in Lebanon.

We will not let attacks on Israeli civilians go unanswered.

On Wednesday, three rockets were fired from southern Lebanon toward several Israeli villages located near the de facto border between the two countries. In response, the IDF fired three bursts of artillery fire into southern Lebanon. Just hours later, Israel conducted airstrikes on several positions in southern Lebanon.

The IDF stated that the airstrikes were against “infrastructure used for terrorism”.

“IDF attacks will continue and even intensify in the face of terrorist attempts against the State of Israel and its citizens. The State of Lebanon is responsible for what happens in its territory. The IDF warns of continued attempts to harm Israeli citizens and their sovereignty”.
