YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 10, ARMENPRESS. Armenia and Russia are connected by common culture, history, faith, great victory which no one can ever take, First Deputy Chairman of the Committee for CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots of the Russian Federal Assembly State Duma, Kazbek Taysayev, told reporters in Yerevan after the joint session of the Committee and the Armenian Parliamentary Standing Committee on Regional and Eurasian Integration Affairs.
“We do not imagine Russia without Armenia and Armenia without Russia”, he said.
The Russian State Duma lawmaker said the discussion in the Armenian Parliament was held in a friendly and constructive atmosphere. “We have agreed on the steps that the two parliaments must implement in the future. We have an experience of a successful cooperation regarding Upper Lars”, he said, adding that there are problems with the Upper Lars border checkpoint, and a working roadmap will be created which will help to solve these issues.
Member of Parliament of Armenia from the ruling Civil Contract faction Vagharshak Hakobyan said he introduced the guests on the current situation resulting from the latest Azerbaijani military aggression against Armenia’s sovereign territory and the security issues of Armenia.
“Detailed information was provided about the military crimes of Azerbaijan. The importance of the immediate withdrawal of Azerbaijani armed forces from the sovereign territory of Armenia was emphasized”, he said, calling the meeting with the Russian colleague productive.
The session agenda focused on the development prospects and priorities of the Eurasian Economic Union in the framework of parliamentary cooperation, during the current global challenges, as well as issues relating to the operation of the Upper Lars border checkpoint. The meeting has also touched upon the Armenian-Russian inter-parliamentary cooperation, the format of holding the sessions of the parliamentary committees.
