YEREVAN, September 9. /ARKA/. Armenia ranked 79th among 140 countries, according to the recent rankings from the World Economic Forum’s Travel & Tourism Competitiveness 2019 Report.. The country has improved on its 84th place in 2017.
Other former Soviet republics were ranked as follows: Russia was 40th, Estonia – 46th, Latvia – 53rd, Lithuania – 59th, Georgia – 68th, Azerbaijan – 71st , Ukraine – 78th, Kazakhstan – 80th, Moldova – 103rd, Tajikistan – 104th and Kyrgyzstan – 110th.
The Global Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Report is a biennial report of the World Economic Forum that measures factors and policies that enable the development of sustainability in the travel and tourism sector. The report covers 140 countries, 14 themes and includes 90 indicators, mainly policy and enabling conditions for tourism and travel, infrastructure, natural and cultural resources.
The ranking is topped by Spain, France, Germany, Japan and the USA. The outsiders are Yemen, Chad, Liberia, Burundi and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
