Armenia’s budget deficit is projected to deteriorate to 4.7 percent in 2024 (owing to support to refugees amounting about 2 percent of GDP), followed by fiscal consolidation in the medium term, the World Bank says in its Europe and Central Asia Economic Update, Spring 2024.
Capital expenditures are expected to increase over the medium term as a percent of GDP to address the infrastructure gap.
The current account deficit is projected to deteriorate to 3.2 percent of GDP in 2024 but to remain manageable at around 3.5 percent in the medium term.
The Asian Development Bank forecasts Armenia’s current account deficit to rise to 2.4% of GDP in 2024 and 2.7% in 2025. -0-
