Surabaya: Indonesia’s second-largest city has been hit by another suicide bombing, with four men on two motorcycles launching a strike onf police headquarters in the city and causing casualties.
Initial reports suggested as many as seven people may have died but so far, Indonesian police have said only that four officers and six civilians have been wounded in the bomb attack
“Just now, at 8.50 am, there was a bomb attack involving a vehicle,” East Java police spokesman Frans Barung Mangera said.
“We can confirm there are casualties among our members, but that’s all we can say now,” he said.
The attack comes just a day after six suicide bombers attacked three churches in the city, killing themselves and seven other people.
Following Surabaya church attacks, almost all cities in Indonesia increased security and alertness including Bali and Maluku (where sectarian conflicts started in 1999 and went on for a few years).
Houses of worship of all religions, public areas such terminals, airports, malls are under being guarded.
