Baku / 07.12.20 / Turan: RIA Novosti reports that Russia has not changed its position on the status of Nagorno-Karabakh, like other countries, the belonging of this territory has long been determined by the resolutions of the Security Council (Resolutions 822, 853, 874 and 884 confirm the belonging of Nagorno-Karabakh to Azerbaijan – Ed.) Dmitry Peskov, press secretary of the Russian President, told reporters.
“The belonging of this territory is determined by the relevant resolutions of the Security Council quite old. This is all indicated in the resolutions of the Security Council. Russia has not changed anything. Actually, not a single country has changed,” Peskov said, answering the question of whether Russia’s attitude has changed on the status of Karabakh after the war and the agreement of the leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation.
In addition to the question of the interaction of the Russian peacekeepers in Karabakh with the parties to the conflict, Peskov was asked who the «chief» in Karabakh is now.
“Actually, there is no main thing. There are two conflicting parties – Armenia and Azerbaijan. These parties together with the Russian side signed a well-known statement of peace. In pursuance of the provisions of this statement, the Russian military, as well as the Russian humanitarian mission, which consists not only from the military, they coordinate their actions both with Azerbaijanis and Armenians,” Peskov said.
